Travel Deals for the Family

At first, many vacations seem out of reach for families.  A vacation with two people is affordable, but with four, five, or more, things can get quite pricy.  While it is true that a family can rack up quite a bill when they are traveling, many vacation ideas that seem like pipe dreams might actually be within reach.

It is possible to take that trip with your family, if you are shrewd when it comes to finding the right deal.

1. Be flexible with the dates.  There are plenty of package deals out there for families who want to go skiing in winter or hit the beach or lake in the summer.  The problem is that most of these deals are not offered during peak times.  Being flexible with the dates, even if it means taking the kids out of school for a day or two, can save you hundreds on package vacations.

2. Many ski resorts offer packages that allow kids to stay and ski for free if their parents pay regular price.  However, it is important to read the fine print.  Large families might find that the deal is one child per paying adult. 
3. Caribbean beach resorts offer similar “kids stay free” packages.  Again, it might require traveling during non-peak times, but the savings are worth it.

4. Some packages include condo or bungalow rental.  Then there is no need to worry about hotel charges stemming from extra people or extra rooms.  Also, many of these homes away from home include kitchens, meaning a big savings when it comes to eating. 

5. Research, research, research.  Often, finding the best deal means putting in the leg-work (or Google work).  Finding great package deals requires combing through the glut of travel options out there and finding the right one for you and your family.
